Discontinued International beauty Pageant: Queen of the Pacific Quest

Miss Queen of Pacific Quest about

The Melbourne Moomba Festival was Australia's largest festival, with an emphasis on cultural and sporting activities, entertainment and pageantry. It held an annual event, Queen of the Pacific Quest, during March from 1967 to 1977. 

 It was not held in 1978, and probably not in 1979. In 1980, it was renamed Miss Moomba Tourism Quest, and in 1981 Miss International Tourism Quest. It was discontinued after 1983.

Queen of Pacific 1967 was the first Edition of This Australian Based Women's International Pageant. Held on March 12 -17 and won by Miss Malaysia, Betty Lim Saw Yim

Queen of Pacific Quest 1968

Queen of the Pacific 1968 was 2nd Edition of this Australian Based International Woman's Pageant and  Maria Rita (Baby) Lacson Santiago of the Philippines won the 1968 Queen of the Pacific Title.

Please note: Miss Republic of China, Patsya Wun the Queen of the Pacific 1969 Winner did not complete her reign so the firsr Runner up Miss Japan Hiroko Suzuki Took over her reign.

Nelia de los Reyes Sancho of the Philippines luckily won the title of Queen of the Pacific 1971 making her the first Filipina to win the title.

For the first 10 years these were staged at the Palacio de la Lonja in Zaragoza, Spain. The city was the headquarters of the organizer, the Goya International, which ran the pageants in cooperation with the officials of Zaragoza City Provincial Delegation for Tourism. Later the pageants were held in different locations in Latin America and Spain. The pageant was discontinued after 1991, and in 1995 it was revived under name of Maja del Mundo. However, it was held just that once. Another pageant, Miss Maja World, was begun in Colombia in 2004.
